Letter from Class of '77
Dear
Friends;
Great
News! Its time to celebrate another reunion of the St. Pius X alumni. The Class
of 1977 is proud to host the event and extend a very cordial invitation for
everyone to join this year's celebration on September 22nd.
Traditions
are often presumed to be historic, unalterable, and deeply important.
In a short time it has become our tradition to meet each year across the
years and miles to share camaraderie, Mass and a meal while stories are re-told
of the "glory days" of Pius.
In
keeping with tradition we will celebrate Mass together at St. Pius Chapel at 5pm
to be followed by a reception at St. Agnes Cathedral's Hall in Rockville Center.
Guy Bolognese ('77) co-owner of Guy Anthony's Restaurant in Merrick. Guy has
selected an amazing array of menu items, and premium open bar for the dinner
reception this year. For those
needing overnight accommodations a room block has been reserved at the Hampton
Inn nearby.
The
Officers, Directors and the Reunion Committee Class of '77 are working hard to
make this an extraordinary evening and look forward to seeing you all there.
The one thing the Board always comes back to is how unique this alumni
group is. We are not adding any future generations of alumni, and in all its
year's Pius graduated less students than some mega-high schools do in a single
year. That experience created a special bond, which compels us to memories and
friendships that, will last an eternity. We hope you can attend! (If you can not
attend we would welcome an e-mail and include a picture, or send a short .mpeg
file and we'll pay it at the reception.)
On
behalf of the association and the Class of 1977
Sincerely
Jerry
Galligan ('77)

Fellow Alumni,
Thanks again to all who attended and
made the 2007 Reunion a success with over 100 alumni and guests.
Special thanks to the Reunion Committee who included Pat Darienzo
'77 and George Berry '77 who hosted the well received Pius Jeopardy segment of
the evening and to our caterer Guy Bolognese '77 who did a
wonderful job.
Thanks also to Rebekah & John Callahan
'75 and to Rich Duffy '82 for providing the photos posted to this website.
Apparently alumni were having too good a time (as they should) to bother with
photos because we don't have too many. In the future we'll see if we can
designate a photographer so we can post some photos to share with those
unable to attend.
If you have not
already done so, please consider supporting our alumni association by sending
an annual membership fee of $25.00. Your donation will support the
following 2008 initiatives:
- Enhance our website with Business Links for Alumni Networking
- Update our website quarterly with Alumni News and Events
- Grow our mailing list to over 300 alumni in 2008
- Sponsor a Spring 2008 beautification of the 1220 Front Street grounds
- To be determined: Organize a 2008 Golf Outing and/or a 2008 Reunion
Please include, or send by e-mail, your business link that we can post to the
Alumni website. News or photos from today or yesteryear are also always
welcome.
Thanks very much and Merry Christmas to All!
