Given some

The
Players Club House Rules
While the
Players Club does not require gentlemen to wear ties and jackets, it is asked
that members and guests comply with the dress code. "Business
casual" is the guideline. No athletic attire.
Gentlemen must wear a collared shirt and slacks. A turtleneck or
branded collar is permitted only with a jacket.
There
is no cash exchanged (or credit/debit card transactions) in The Players Club,
and there is no tipping.
Members
are there to relax and enjoy the company of friends and colleagues. Therefore,
it is not permitted to ask members and their guests for autographs or
photographs.
About
The Players Club
In 1888
Edwin Booth, America's pre-eminent Shakespearean actor, founded the Players Club
modeled after the Garrick Club in London and deeded his 1840s townhouse at 16
Gramercy Park to The Players. In 1963 The Players was designated a
National Historic Landmark. The Players was strictly a men's club until on
Shakespeare's birthday in 1989 when women were finally permitted to become
members, the first being Helen Hayes. The current president is Timothy
Hutton.
The St Pius reception will be
held on the second floor where The Players Dining Room has played host to
tributes honoring dozens of men and women of the theatre, including John Gielgud,
Jason Robards, Lauren Bacall and very recently Peter O'Toole. The bar
open to club members is located downstairs in the Grill Room where
photographs include members Gregory Peck, Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn and
James Cagney (who annually celebrated New Year's Eve here). Mark Twain was
one of the founding members and his pool cue hangs over the pool table.
